A Chief Digital Officer (CDO), or a Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO), is an executive responsible for guiding a company’s growth by transitioning traditional ‘analogue’ processes into digital ones using contemporary online technology and data. This transition, known as digital transformation, often involves significant alterations to the company’s technology infrastructure, business procedures, products, and job responsibilities and can be a lengthy process. Consequently, effective strategic leadership and change management are critical aspects of the role and are typically led by the CDOs themselves. These professionals place a strong emphasis on generating new value by leveraging digital tools, platforms, technologies, services, and processes.
